Activities

Spiritual Nurture

Satribari Christian Hospital has a Spiritual Life Department and a Nurses’ Youth Fellowship (NYF) which nurtures the students spiritually. Students are encouraged to follow the example of Christ in their professional and personal life. Students participate in the Daily Morning Devotions, Wednesday Cottage Prayer meetings, Friday NYF meetings, Sunday Evening Campus Fellowship and Sunday services in different North-Eastern languages. Special programmes during Christmas and Easter also add to their spiritual nurture.

Student Nurses’ Association

All students are members of the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) which is a national association of student nurses in India. Through the SNA the students are given opportunities to develop their creativity and exhibit their talents in various extracurricular activities both in the school of nursing as well as in the state and national SNA conferences.

Sports

Students are encouraged to participate in both indoor and outdoor games. Many students have participated and won prizes in SNA sports meet both at the State and National level.



Since its inception, the hospital has undertaken various activities with a view to creating awareness among the people as well as to provide better health care services.

Details of various activities being undertaken by the society at present are enumerated below:

COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES

At present, the hospital has 2 (two) rural community health centres and a third centre is under consideration.

a) Borbitoli Community Health Clinic, Sonapur, Dist:- Kamrup, Assam.

This rural centre Borbituli is situated about 47 kms away from Guwahati at Sonapur and was established on 3rd May, 1993. where one full time female health worker and nurses are stationed which offer community services to about 3000 villages in 5 (five) villages. Doctors pay visit to the clinic fortnightly.

b) Ranibari Community Health Project, Ranibari, Dist:- Kamrup, Assam.

This rural centre at Ranibari is situated about 75 kms away from Guwahati under the Kamrup (Rural) District. It has about 20 villages with a population of 20,000 and literacy rate is about 50%. One full time female staff and helper are stationed and Docors along with Nurses visit the centre fortnightly.

HIV/AIDS INFORMATION AND COUNSELLING CENTRE

The hospital is running a HIV/AIDS Information and Counselling Centre since 2001. Its is a joint venture with CMAI, New Delhi. In November 2007, the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre for HIV/AIDS was started under the Assam AIDS Control Society (NACO).

SCHOOL OF NURSHING

The hospital has constructed 12 (twelve) shops on the road bordering its campus as Self Reliance Project.

Construction of Central Water Supply under MPLAD of Dr. Manmohan Singh with kind help and well wishers of Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Urban) has been completed during the year 2003.
